Science Library Plotter

Description
The Libraries offer large-format printing for academic purposes using a HP T1200 plotter. The plotter can print in color or black and white, and on a roll of paper that is 42 inches by 100 feet. The plotter is located in the Science Library and unlike most printers in the library which are self serve, the plotter is only available with the assistance of library staff. To print a document please send an email message to the Libraries Print On Demand email address: pod@binghamton.edu. Please send us the file or a link to the file you wish to have printed, your name, and approximately how big the image is.

Who can use it?
Priority will be given to Binghamton University students, staff and faculty, however, anyone can request prints from the plotter. Due to the expense of the equipment, library staff at the Science Library Information Service Desk can assist you during regular business hours.

How much does it cost?
The fee for printing with the plotter is $1 per linear inch. The paper rolls are 42 inches wide. Payment can be made using your BUC$ account. For example, if you print a map that is 22 x 28 inches, you would be charged $22. Payment is due when you pick-up the document.

Where can I pick-up the print?
The print-out will be held at the Science Library Information Services Desk (the main desk). You can pick-up your document during regular business hours when Science Library staff are available to accept payment. Please check that the Science Library is open.

How long does it take?
Although the plotter can print surprisingly fast, due to staff availability and demand we encourage you to submit your print requests two working days before the document is needed. Don’t leave printing to the last minute!

What formats will print?
Any file type that is supported by software on the staff computers may be printed. Most commonly printed file formats include PDF, JPEG, TIFF, PPT.

Can I print anything I want?
No. The Binghamton University Copyright and Fair Use Policy and copyright law apply to the use of the plotter. Please see Copyright Resources page for further information. As stated earlier, the printer is reserved for academic uses. The University Libraries reserves the right to refuse any projects we deem questionable.

How do I submit a request?
You can submit a print request by emailing a link or a file as an attachment to the Print on Demand email: pod@binghamton.edu . Include approximately how big the image is and your name in the email in case we need to get in touch with you.
