Please contact Angelique Jenks-Brown, 607-777-4596 to arrange for an instruction session or tour for your high school class.
Library instruction sessions can be arranged during Binghamton University's intersessions or class recesses. Please refer to the academic calendar when planning your visit. Appointments should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
The Libraries would prefer a maximum of 30 students per visit. Multiple classes may be arranged if you have more than this number.
The class instructor and/or the library media specialist must accompany all student visits.
To make the best use of their time at the Binghamton University Libraries, students must have a specific assignment and a general idea of the kind of resources they will be looking for during their visit. For classes that do not have a research assingment, a tour can be arranged instead.
Visiting high school students should first use the resources at their local school and public libraries, and use their interlibrary loan services if items from BU Libraries are needed.
Visiting students are encouraged to be familiar with our Library Catalog.
During a class session, students will be given a class login and password that will allow them to access computers in the Bartle instruction labs for the duration of their visit. Otherwise, students under the age of 18 must have an adult present to obtain a guest account for computer access.
Minors will need their parent or guardian present to register for a Courtesy Borrower card.
Students may purchase a BUC$ card for $1.00 and add value to the card. Print-outs cost $0.08 per page and photocopies are $0.10 per page. In addition, students may download/ scan materials to flash drives.
Please consult either the clickable or pdf Binghamton University campus map. To find your way around the Libraries use our Floor Plans.
