Your Binghamton University ID card is your library card. You can borrow up to 200 items at one time. Books, microforms, and government documents may be borrowed for one year. For more information on borrowing privileges and the loan periods of other items, including journals, see the Circulation Services page.
Most books can be renewed online and in person. To renew online, you need to sign into the Library Catalog. Instructions are provided for entering your BU patron ID and your password, and for additional help, see the Renew Books Online tutorial.
Signing in to the Library Catalog also allows you to request items that are available at the Library Annex @ Conklin. To request items to be brought back and forth the University Downtown Center and the Vestal Campus, use the University Downtown Center Request Form.
Borrowing and reciprocal access with other institutions is available through such programs as SUNY Open Access and by the Libraries' membership in RLG and CRL. More information is available on the Services for Faculty page.
Graduate instructors and teaching assistants may place books, visual and audio materials, articles, or other items on reserve. Physical items may be checked out at the Newcomb Reading Room in Bartle Library or the UDC Library. Articles, whenever possible, are scanned and placed in BlackBoard by the Libraries. Consult the Course Reserves web page for more details.
